The President of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Danny Jordaan, has begun to be tried on charges of fraud. ARRESTEDAccording to local media reports, Jordaan, who has been serving as the president of SAFA since 2013, was arrested on charges of defrauding 1.3 million South African rand (71 thousand dollars) along with SAFA's Financial Officer Gronnie Hluyo and South African businessman Trevor Neethling. RELEASED AFTER PAYING 1100 DOLLARSJordaan, Hluyo, and Neethling appeared before a judge at the Johannesburg Special Commercial Crimes Court and denied the charges against them. The court ruled that the defendants be released on bail of 20 thousand rand (1100 dollars). In a statement from the South African police, it was noted that Jordaan is accused of defrauding 1.3 million rand by hiring personal protection for himself with SAFA's resources from 2014 to 2018 and entering into an agreement with a public relations firm without the approval of the Federation's management.
