With the announcement of the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) on July 3rd, the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) increases will also be determined. The D-PPI increase for the first 5 months of 2024 was 17.87%. With the announcement of the June data on July 3rd, the SCT increase will also be clarified. It is expected that the rate will reach the 20s.

SCT AMOUNTS WILL INCREASE

Currently, SCT is collected at 9.45 TL per liter for gasoline and 8.86 TL per liter for diesel. If the D-PPI increases by 20%, the SCT amounts for gasoline will increase to 11.34 lira and for diesel to 10.63 lira.

FUEL PRICES WILL BE RAISED

Due to the Value Added Tax (VAT) collected on top of the SCT, the tax burden on gasoline will increase to 2.27 lira and on diesel to 2.13 lira. There will also be a 1.80 lira increase in the autogas group.

CIGARETTE PRICES WILL ALSO BE AFFECTED

The SCT increase will be reflected in cigarette prices. With the SCT increase, the tax threshold, which is currently 50 lira, will increase to 60 lira, and the prices of the cheapest cigarettes will increase. It is expected that the price of the cheapest cigarette, which is currently 56 lira, will increase to 66 lira.
