AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu stated that he has completed his work on the regulation regarding stray animals without disturbing the current HTML and said, "Now I will submit it to our President and make my statements, express my opinions. After him, it will come to the Commission."

WORK ON REGULATION REGARDING STRAY DOGS COMPLETED

AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu answered the question of journalists about the regulation work on stray animals before the AK Party Parliamentary Group Meeting. Yenişehirlioğlu, who stated that he has completed his work, stated that he will submit the file to President Erdoğan.

YENİŞEHİRLIOĞLU: A WORK THAT HAS NOT BEEN DONE BEFORE

Yenişehirlioğlu said the following: "I have completed my work with all stakeholders. Among them are academics, journalists, community leaders, victim families, artists, universities, our professors who teach in Turkey and abroad. I have collected serious data. This is a work that has not been done before. I have submitted all of this to both the Commission Chairman and the Group Chairman."

"I WILL SUBMIT IT TO OUR PRESIDENT"

Now I will submit it to our President and make my statements, express my opinions. After him, it will come to the Commission. When will this happen? Let's say it will be soon," he said. Answering the question about whether the regulation will be completed before the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey goes on vacation, Yenişehirlioğlu said, "We are talking. It has not been finalized yet."

On the other hand, according to the news in Türkiye Gazetesi; Güler stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan approached the 'putting to sleep' issue cautiously and Güler stated that this is already in the Law No. 5199 and only the scope will be expanded for public security. Upon this, it was learned that Erdoğan said, "Finalize this as soon as possible. Finish the working text as soon as possible and submit it to me."

QUALITY OF SHELTERS WILL BE IMPROVED

The role of local governments and the improvement of the quality of shelters were also discussed at the meeting. It was emphasized that the problem cannot be solved by only taking stray dogs to shelters, and that it is important to improve the facilities and conditions in the shelters.

IT WILL BE CALLED EUTHANASIA IN THE LAW

While it is expected that the proposal will be submitted to the Parliament in July, AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, who was a guest on CNN Türk broadcast, stated that the controversial option of putting to sleep will be included in the regulation. Güler stated, "We have animals that pose a social risk, carry the risk of rabies, are sick and cannot be adopted, and have difficulty in feeding. Therefore, you have to protect the health of other animals in the shelter." Abdullah Güler stated that the practice for animals that are sick and cannot be adopted will be included in the law with the definition of "euthanasia" instead of "killing" or "putting to sleep".

WHO WILL DECIDE ON EUTHANASIA?

Regarding the question of "Who will decide on euthanasia?" Güler said that the decision to put to sleep dogs that are rabid, carry infectious diseases, have increased aggression, and cannot be rehabilitated will be made by veterinarians and public administrators.
