US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are progressing constructively, sending the message "Time is on our side, don't rush" for a deal that would definitively prevent nuclear weapons. Following Trump's remarks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking in India, announced that they have advanced a significant draft framework with Gulf partners in the last 48 hours, and that good news for the world, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, could come within the next few hours.
US President Donald Trump made significant statements regarding the negotiation process with Iran, stating that the talks are progressing in a regular and constructive manner. In a post on his social media account, Trump emphasized that they are working on an agreement that will definitively prevent Tehran from possessing a nuclear weapon. Saying he instructed his representatives "not to rush," the US President used the following expressions:
"The negotiations are progressing in a regular and constructive manner; I told my representatives involved in the talks not to rush the agreement because time is on our side. Both sides should not rush and must do the job correctly. No mistakes should be made."
NAVAL BLOCKADE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL AN AGREEMENT IS REACHED
Trump also underscored that the US naval blockade on Iranian ports will continue uninterrupted until a final agreement is reached. Noting that relations are now proceeding "more professionally and efficiently," Trump thanked Middle Eastern countries and hinted that Iran could even join the Abraham Accords in the future. In his statement yesterday, Trump announced that the agreement had largely taken shape and that final details were being discussed.
SECRETARY RUBIO: GOOD NEWS MAY COME IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS
Following President Trump's optimistic yet cautious remarks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also shared critical details about the ongoing diplomatic efforts. Holding a joint press conference with his counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in India's capital New Delhi, Rubio announced that they had made significant progress with partners in the Gulf region over the past 48 hours.
Rubio provided the following information about the draft framework under discussion:
"If successful, this framework will not only ensure the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without a transit fee but will also address some key elements that have historically formed the basis of Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions. I believe there is a possibility that the world will receive some good news in the next few hours."
"THEY CANNOT OBTAIN A NUCLEAR WEAPON AS LONG AS DONALD TRUMP IS PRESIDENT"
Reminding that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway and does not belong to Iran, Rubio emphasized that threatening commercial vessels is illegal. Stating that they prefer to resolve the issue through diplomatic means at the State Department rather than military methods, Rubio said, "As long as Donald Trump is the US President, they will never be able to possess a nuclear weapon. This issue will be resolved one way or another."
"OPERATION EPIC FURY ACHIEVED ITS OBJECTIVES"
Responding to criticisms regarding the operational timeline and damage to civilian infrastructure, Rubio argued that all military targets identified under "Operation Epic Fury" had been achieved. Rubio stated, "We were going to destroy Iran's navy, and we did. We significantly reduced their ballistic missile capabilities and defense industry infrastructure," accusing Iran of being the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism and of mining international waters.
