The fire disaster in Izmir continues! A 440-house residential complex has been evacuated.

Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban said that a site in the Balıklıova neighborhood of Urla district was evacuated due to a fire that broke out in a wooded area nearby.

Elban, who received information from officials about the ongoing extinguishing efforts in the region, reported that sparks from a broken power line in the area caused the fire. Elban stated that the region is predominantly covered with shrubs and said, "The fire spread very quickly due to the hot and dry weather conditions and strong winds."

"440-UNIT SUMMER RESIDENTIAL SITE EVACUATED"

Elban explained that Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry, AFAD, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, gendarmerie, police, and other agency teams were present in the field to intervene in the fire. Elban stated, "Despite the rapid intervention of the teams, the fire spread to a certain extent. There is a summer residential site consisting of 440 units in the region, and it does not threaten any other settlement. In order to prevent the fire from reaching this site and to avoid any loss of life or property, all of our teams are working intensively there."

"EVACUATED BY SEA"

Elban stated that they warned the citizens to leave the area without taking any risks, saying, "The majority of our citizens left their homes by considering our warning. However, when 34 citizens resisted leaving until the last moment, we evacuated them by sea using the coast guard's boat to prevent any risk on land." Elban stated that the fire does not pose a risk for both the site and the settlements in the region.

"ENERGY OF THE FIRE HAS BEEN REDUCED"

Elban explained that the intervention to the fire in Yamanlar, Karşıyaka, is ongoing and said, "A fire started in our Menderes district around 17:30 in the evening, and it is still ongoing. The fires in Tire and Bayındır have been completely brought under control. However, the fires in Menderes and Yamanlar are still active. However, the energy of the fire in Yamanlar has been reduced. Hopefully, we will give good news in a short time."
