Energy Minister Bayraktar announced that the first electricity generation at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will be carried out by the end of the year and that Turkey will enter a new era in nuclear energy.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said they aim to achieve Turkey's transition to a new era in nuclear energy by producing the first electricity from the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant by the end of the year.
PRODUCTION STARTS BY THE END OF THE YEAR
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated in his post on his X account:
"In the first unit of our Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, we have successfully completed one of the most important stages of the commissioning schedule. We aim to achieve Turkey's transition to a new era in nuclear energy by producing the first electricity from the plant by the end of the year. We will make zero-emission, uninterrupted, and environmentally friendly nuclear energy one of the strongest sources in our country's energy basket."
"WE WILL ADD SINOP AND THRACE TO OUR PORTFOLIO"
With this strong vision, we will not only stay with Akkuyu but also add new plants planned in Sinop and Thrace, as well as small modular reactors, to our production portfolio. We will resolutely walk toward the goal of a fully independent Turkey in energy by increasing our nuclear capacity to 20,000 megawatts by 2050."
