The Ministry of Interior announced today that after the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality of Istanbul last week, trustees have now been appointed to the municipalities of Batman, Mardin, and Halfeti.
GOVERNOR AKKOYUN ASSIGNED AS DEPUTY
While Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk was dismissed, Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun was appointed as the acting mayor.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM AHMET TÜRK
Ahmet Türk, who was dismissed, connected to a live broadcast and made statements regarding the issue. Türk said, "They called at 5:30, saying 'We will make a notification.' They rang the bell just before 6. They made the notification. This is probably what they call 'normalization.' The will of the people is being usurped. I must have entered the Guinness World Records. In the world, trustees are appointed three times. We had no such information or expectations.
"WE HAD NO EXPECTATION OF A TRUSTEE APPOINTMENT"
When the phone rang at 5:30 in the morning, I felt that something was happening. But we had no expectation that a trustee would be appointed. What is happening in Turkey shows the extent of the law, justice, and democracy. I guess we have to expect everything," he stated.
WHO IS AHMET TÜRK?
Ahmet Türk was born on July 2, 1942, in Mardin.
