27 people were injured in the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Panama; damage occurred to houses, schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges. The footage one person shot at home during the earthquake revealed the scale of the disaster.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred in southern parts of Panama. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami warning for Colombia and Ecuador, as well as some areas on the Pacific coast of Central America.

27 PEOPLE INJURED

While 27 people were injured in the severe earthquake, Panama's National Civil Protection System announced that it had not received any reports of casualties. It was stated that 17 people were slightly injured in Cocle province, 6 in Los Santos, and one each in Veraguas and Herrera provinces. In Panama Oeste province, two children were injured.

DAMAGE OCCURRED IN HOMES, SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS

The earthquake caused damage to homes, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges throughout the country, and caused some settlements to be cut off from road access. According to Ministry of Education data, the earthquake affected 188 schools nationwide.
