In Istanbul, new details have emerged in the indictment prepared regarding the 'newborn gang', which is said to have caused the deaths of emergency infant patients by transferring them to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had previously agreed upon, in collaboration with the personnel working at the 112 Emergency Call Center. THEY DISREGARDED THE LIVES OF BABIESIn the report prepared by the Organized Crimes and Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was recorded that the suspect Dr. F.S., who is alleged to be the leader of the organization, acted together with the suspect Dr. İ.G., the organization's manager, and transferred infant patients to the contracted hospitals through irregular methods, regardless of whether the hospitals were capable of providing treatment under appropriate conditions, at the expense of the lives of the infant patients. THEY MADE A SIGNIFICANT FRAUD FROM SGKIn the report, it was stated that the suspects ensured long-term hospitalization of infant patients, thereby obtaining a high income from SGK. It was expressed that they facilitated the sale of a drug called "curosurf", used in respiratory treatment, as if it had been used on infant patients to third parties. THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF VICTIMIZATIONThe report explained that the suspects sometimes took advantage of the victimization and dependency of foreign national relatives of infant patients and, through nurse members of the organization, committed fraud by charging treatment costs above market prices from the relatives of patients in a manner referred to as "intermediation", using public institutions as intermediaries. NURSES WROTE THE REPORTSThe report emphasized that the suspects extended the hospitalization periods of infants to receive high payments from SGK, and that some infant patients transferred to hospitals with insufficient treatment conditions were found to be lacking shortly after. It was noted that the infant patients' epicrisis reports were not filled out, and instead of doctors, it was determined that similar or very similar epicrisis reports were written by nurses, which should have been written by doctors. NURSES ARE INSUFFICIENTIn the report, it was stated that in the investigations conducted regarding nurses, it was found that many of the nurses did not have the NRP certificates required to be authorized to provide health services to infants, covering the early birth and the first 4 weeks after birth, known as the science of "Neonatology". It was recorded in the report that when the death of a baby occurred in a private hospital in Bağcılar, Dr. D.E., who should have been in the hospital, was not present, and in an attempt to cover up the incident, nurse Ç.D. called İ.G. for advice. It was mentioned that the death of a 6-month-old black baby was due to the failure of the insufficiently trained nurse H.D.T. and other staff to notice it. THE HOSPITAL OF THE FORMER MINISTER IS ALSO ON THE LISTThe indictment prepared regarding 47 suspects, 22 of whom are arrested, also included a list of hospitals where the gang, which is said to have caused the deaths of at least 12 infants, operated.
