A giant cargo ship flying the Bahamian flag ran aground near the port off the coast of Aliağa district in İzmir. The incident caused a brief panic in the area, and teams initiated work to rescue the ship.
According to information obtained, the ship, which was sailing towards Aliağa Port, lost control during a maneuver for an as yet unknown reason and ran aground in shallow waters. Upon notification, Coast Guard and port teams were dispatched to the area.
INTERVENTION INITIATED
Authorities reported that salvage operations accompanied by tugboats have been initiated to remove the ship from its location. According to initial determinations, there was no loss of life or injury in the incident.
