Following the incident, the Coast Guard Command stated that "on September 25, 2024, at 16:35, the Turkish-flagged fishing vessel 'Barbaros-4', which was engaged in fishing activities off the coast of Akyarlar in Bodrum, Muğla, was harassed by a Greek Coast Guard element that fired shots into the air. Upon this report, 1 Coast Guard Ship and 1 Coast Guard Boat that were on duty in the area were immediately dispatched to the scene. The Greek Coast Guard element located on the midline was driven away from the area by the preventive maneuvers of the assigned Coast Guard elements. No damage was detected during the inspections carried out on the Turkish fishing vessel, and it was ensured that the fishing vessel safely reached Turgutreis Fishing Harbor."
