According to a news report in Hürriyet, the gendarmerie found a green scarf that they believed belonged to Narin, while the mother said she couldn't remember if the scarf belonged to her daughter.

Upon showing the same scarf to Narin's Quran course teacher, the authorities included the mother at the top of the 'suspects' list after the teacher's response of "Narin used it on the day she went missing."
