The standoff over the 'group meeting' between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel in the CHP has escalated. After Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced he would speak at the group meeting tomorrow at 13:30, Özgür Özel made a countermove. In a statement from Özel's press office, it was stated that the group meeting would be held at 13:30. While the previous announcement used the phrase 'CHP Parliamentary Group Meeting', the new announcement did not include the phrase CHP.
The group meeting clash between Republican People's Party Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel has escalated. After Kılıçdaroğlu announced he would speak at the group meeting tomorrow at 13:30, Özgür Özel's press office also called for a meeting on the same day and time.
BOTH SIDES WILL HOLD GROUP MEETINGS AT THE SAME TIME
The fact that both sides scheduled appointments at the same time revealed the power struggle within the party ahead of the convention. In the second announcement from Özgür Özel's office, it was noted that the phrase "CHP" was removed and only "TBMM Group Meeting" was used.

Following Özgür Özel's statement, "We will hold the group meeting tomorrow, and I will be at the podium," an official step came from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's side. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's Press Spokesperson Atakan Sönmez shared the official letter sent from the CHP Chairmanship to the TBMM Presidency regarding the eagerly awaited crisis.
In the letter sent, Kılıçdaroğlu officially informed the parliament administration that he would take the podium at the meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 9, with the title of 'Chairman'.
STATEMENT FROM THE CHP SPOKESPERSON
Meanwhile, CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı stated that they would hold the CHP TBMM Group Meeting on Tuesday, saying, "Our Chairman, Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, will attend our Group Meeting with the title of chairman. Therefore, we will hold this meeting on Tuesday. Our political determination on this matter continues exactly as before."
VISITOR REQUEST FROM THE PARLIAMENT
In this unprecedented crisis in the history of parliament, while discussions continue on how parliament security will act, Kılıçdaroğlu also requested from the TBMM Presidency for visitors who will come to support him.
The official letter, signed by Kılıçdaroğlu and presented to the Parliament Presidency, which is expected to further fuel the crisis, included the following statements:
"The 28th Session of the 4th Legislative Year of the Republican People's Party Parliamentary Group Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 13:30 in the TBMM CHP Group Meeting Hall. I respectfully submit for your information the necessity of admitting our visitors, whose names are listed in the attached list and who will come to the TBMM to attend the Group Meeting where I will deliver an opening speech as the Chairman of the Republican People's Party, to the Committee Meeting Hall."
POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM THE PARLIAMENT PRESIDENCY FOR VISITORS
CHP Aydın Deputy Hüseyin Yıldız, who conveyed Kılıçdaroğlu's application to the Parliament Presidency, told reporters on his way out, "Our Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will speak at the group meeting tomorrow, no problem."
