The guard who raped a mentally disabled girl was arrested and sent to prison.

In Adana, the guards who are accused of sexually abusing C.İ., a 14-year-old girl with a 25% mental disability, appeared before the judge for the first time. After hearing witnesses and defendants in the case at the Ceyhan 1st High Criminal Court, the court decided to arrest the defendant Mehmet Can D. considering the possibility of flight.

FORMER COLLEAGUES CONFIRMED THE ALLEGATIONS

The indictment for the case involving the three guards was accepted last July. For the first time in two years, former colleagues testified against the guards. The statements given by the guards in court confirmed the allegations of sexual abuse against Mehmet Can D.

THE COURT PRESIDENT EXAMINED EVERY DETAIL ONE BY ONE

Lawyer Merve Şahin made statements after the hearing. Şahin said, "A detention order was issued for one guard. The hearing, which started at 1:00 PM, lasted until 8:00 PM. The court president examined every detail one by one. It took a long time because there were many witnesses. There were about 6-7 witnesses who were guards. The witnesses stated that they heard complaints about the defendant guard's abuse from citizens. Only one person said they didn't know anything," she said.

"WE WERE EXPECTING THE ARREST"

Lawyer Şahin noted that the court, after listening to the witnesses and the defendants' defense, decided to arrest one guard, stating, "We will wait for the hearing to be held in December for the decision. We were expecting the arrest. The case pointed to Mehmet Can D. in terms of evidence. The court considered the possibility of flight as a reason for the arrest," she said.

The final hearing of the case will be held in December.
