While the search efforts for the university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing in Van, continue, an attention-grabbing statement came from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "Today, a headscarf that has been identified by her family as belonging to our daughter Rojin was found on the shores of Lake Van."

Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) Preschool Teaching Department student Kabaiş has been missing since September 27, after telling her friends that she would go to the beach to collect pebbles.

A HEADSCARF WAS FOUND ON THE SHORE OF THE LAKE

While the search for the young girl continues, an attention-grabbing statement came from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Minister Yerlikaya stated that a headscarf belonging to Rojin was found on the shore of Lake Van today, saying, "Our search efforts to find our daughter Rojin are ongoing 24 hours a day without interruption."

Minister Yerlikaya's statement is as follows;

"The search efforts for our university student Rojin Kabaiş, who left the KYK dormitory in Van on Friday, September 27, 2024, and has been missing for 13 days, are ongoing.

  • Special teams have been established by the Van Police Department from different units regarding the matter.
  • All camera footage belonging to the university, totaling 350 hours of recordings, has been reviewed by our teams, including arrivals and departures.
  • The Bardakçı and Çitören neighborhoods have been mapped, a total of 12 cameras have been found, and an investigation has been conducted regarding vehicles and individuals with a total of 275 hours of recordings.
  • 120 hours of recordings from vehicles that have camera recording capabilities among the university's transportation vehicles have been examined.
  • All traces, evidence, and images that could be evidence have been sent to the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Department for clarification.
  • A sonar device has been brought from Çanakkale Province by the Çanakkale Coast Guard Command to conduct a bottom scan, and work has begun.
  • The Provincial Police Department, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Coast Guard Command, AFAD, Fire Department, and Red Crescent have been conducting operations in the lake and land areas 24 hours a day with divers, search dogs, drones, boats/ships, helicopters, fire trucks, and mobile radar devices; outbuildings, abandoned areas, reed beds, and sewer areas are being examined 24 hours a day with 50 teams and 250 personnel.
