In Yalova, teams from the Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command conducted operations against fugitive convicts with finalized prison sentences. Among the 24 fugitive convicts, one was wanted for five different crimes and had a total of 27 years and 6 months of finalized prison sentences. This fugitive was captured and taken into custody in a hidden area located in the attic of his house.
Between January 27 and February 2 in Yalova, the Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams conducted operations targeting individuals who had been convicted of various crimes and had arrest warrants against them.
24 FUGITIVE CONVICTS CAUGHT
As part of the operations, 24 fugitive convicts were caught, including 22 individuals with finalized prison sentences of up to 5 years, 1 individual with a prison sentence of up to 10 years, and 1 individual with a total of 27 years and 6 months of prison sentences for 5 separate crimes.
Yalova Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta emphasized in a social media post regarding the operations that the primary priority of the Yalova Governorship is to ensure the peace and security of its citizens.
CAUGHT IN A HIDDEN COMPARTMENT IN THE ATTIC
On the other hand, 40 suspects wanted for questioning were also caught and detained through the efforts of law enforcement. During the operations, it was learned that a fugitive, who was wanted for 5 separate crimes and had a total of 27 years and 6 months of finalized prison sentences, was caught while hiding in a secret compartment in the attic of his house.
"WE WILL NOT ALLOW CRIMINALS TO ROAM FREE IN SOCIETY"
Governor Usta included an image of the person caught in the attic compartment in his post, stating:
"In this context, we will never allow individuals involved in crimes, who roam among us as if nothing has happened, to walk freely in society. 40 individuals wanted for questioning have also been caught. We will continue our efforts with determination and resolve so that Yalova is known for its sea, greenery, natural beauties, and peaceful life. I thank the citizens of Yalova who support us, show sensitivity, and the police and gendarmerie forces who work tirelessly."
