The summer of 2024 in Turkey has been recorded as the hottest summer in the last 54 years. While the average summer temperature in Turkey has been measured at 24 degrees Celsius for many years, this summer saw an increase of 2.1 degrees, rising to an average of 26.1 degrees. The highest temperature during the summer was recorded at 47.8 degrees in Ceylanpınar, while the lowest temperature was 1.6 degrees in Erzurum.

The summer of 2024 in Turkey has been recorded as the hottest summer in the last 54 years. According to data compiled from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the average temperature for the summer season (June, July, August) in Turkey has been measured at 24 degrees. This summer, however, the average temperature increased by 2.1 degrees to 26.1 degrees.



In this year's summer season, average temperatures in Dalaman, Antakya, Finike, Korkuteli, Sivas, Kırıkkale, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Gemerek, Nevşehir, Zara, Kangal, Pınarbaşı (Kayseri), Ilgın, İnebolu, Ordu, Hopa, Artvin, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, Ünye, Pazar (Rize), Tosya, Osmancık, Kızılcahamam, İspir, Oltu, Şebinkarahisar, and throughout the Eastern Anatolia Region, as well as around Siirt, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Batman, Çermik, and Birecik, were close to seasonal norms.

In other parts of the country, average temperatures during the summer season were recorded above seasonal norms. The highest temperature during the summer was measured at 47.8 degrees in Ceylanpınar, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 1.6 degrees in Erzurum. The average temperature for June 2024 was recorded at 25.4 degrees, which is 3.6 degrees above the 1991-2020 norms. This year's average temperature for July was 26.7 degrees, which is 1.7 degrees above the 1991-2020 norms, and the average temperature for August was measured at 26.4 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees above the 1991-2020 norms.

THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE IN THE MARMARA REGION IS IN EDİRNE



In the Marmara Region, average temperatures during the summer season were above seasonal norms throughout the region. The lowest temperature in the region was measured at 11.2 degrees in Balıkesir, while the highest temperature was recorded at 41.4 degrees in Edirne.



In the Aegean Region, average temperatures were recorded above seasonal norms throughout the region, with the lowest temperature at 8.1 degrees in Gediz and the highest temperature at 44.6 degrees in Aydın.



In the Mediterranean Region, average temperatures during the summer were around seasonal norms in Dalaman, Antakya, Finike, and Korkuteli, while in other parts of the region, temperatures were above seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the Mediterranean Region was measured at 6.2 degrees in Göksun, and the highest temperature was recorded at 44.7 degrees in Manavgat.



THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE IN CENTRAL ANATOLIA IS IN POLATLI



In the Central Anatolia Region, temperatures were around seasonal norms in Sivas, Kırıkkale, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Gemerek, Nevşehir, Zara, Kangal, and Pınarbaşı (Kayseri) Ilgın, while in other parts of the region, temperatures were above seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the region was measured at 1.9 degrees in Kangal, and the highest temperature was recorded at 40 degrees in Polatlı.



In the Black Sea Region, average temperatures were around seasonal norms in İnebolu, Ordu, Hopa, Artvin, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, Ünye, Pazar (Rize), Tosya, Osmancık, Kızılcahamam, İspir, Oltu, and Şebinkarahisar, while in other parts of the region, temperatures were above seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the Black Sea Region was measured at 4.8 degrees in Bayburt, and the highest temperature was recorded at 40.7 degrees in Amasya.



In the Eastern Anatolia Region, temperatures were above seasonal norms in Doğanşehir, while in other parts of the region, temperatures were around seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the region was measured at 1.6 degrees in Erzurum, and the highest temperature was recorded at 40.9 degrees in Ergani.



In the Southeastern Anatolia Region, average temperatures were around seasonal norms in Siirt, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Batman, Çermik, and Birecik, while in other parts of the region, temperatures were above seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the Southeastern Anatolia Region was recorded at 13 degrees in Batman, and the highest temperature was measured at 47.8 degrees in Ceylanpınar.
