The husband who killed his wife, in front of the judge: They used to address each other as 'my love'.

The husband Adem Çam, who was arrested on the allegation of shooting and killing his wife Saadet Çam, a middle school teacher in the İlkadım district of Samsun during the divorce process, appeared before a judge for the first time.

The trial, held at the Samsun 2nd Heavy Penal Court, was attended by the defendant Adem Çam, the relatives of the deceased Saadet Çam, and their lawyers.

"THEY TALKED ABOUT GOODS AND ME FOR 22 MINUTES"

In his defense during the trial, Adem Çam claimed that Saadet Çam accidentally called him 8 months before the incident. Çam stated that when he answered the phone, he heard different voices. He said, "They were addressing each other as 'my love'. Saadet said, 'We will take the summer house from him.' Her lover B.D.T. replied, 'I am behind you.' They talked about goods and me for 22 minutes. When I realized they were lovers, I turned the agreed divorce into a contested one."

"I HAD THREE SUICIDE ATTEMPTS BEFORE, BUT I WASN'T THERE THAT DAY"

Çam claimed that two days before the incident, B.D.T. called him and insulted him. He said, "She called me to her workplace. When I went there, the workplace was closed. She came out from behind the car with a stick and grabbed me by the collar. She put me in the car so that no one around could see. I saw my wife and daughter coming from the opposite direction, and they started hitting me. I recorded a video. 1 hour before the incident, I sent her photos of Saadet that were on my phone. I didn't want to see those photos myself. She said, 'Stop sending me photos.' I called her saying that I wanted to see the children. She replied, 'Why do you want to see them? They don't want to see you.' I had three suicide attempts before, but I wasn't there that day. I told my wife for the last time, 'I want to see my children,' I didn't plan it and call her."

"I FAINTED WHEN I SAW MY WIFE COVERED IN BLOOD"

Çam described the day of the incident, stating that he met with B.D.T. and Saadet Çam and they argued about money and property. When he said, "Did you give 903 thousand liras to this man?" B.D.T. allegedly kicked him in the leg and said, "You will divorce this woman, I will kill you here." Çam claimed that Saadet also hit him in the face with her hand. Out of fear, he took the unlicensed gun on the table. Saadet and B.D.T. panicked. Saadet jumped in front of B.D.T. Çam heard the gun firing, but B.D.T. also had a gun. He doesn't know which gun fired. He had never used a gun before. He bought this gun after the incident with B.D.T. He said, "B.D.T. said, 'I was shot in the leg,' and ran away. I followed him, but I couldn't see him. When I went inside, I closed the door. Thinking that B.D.T. would attack me, I also locked the safety latch. I fainted when I saw my wife covered in blood. I woke up in custody. I am very sorry for this incident. I apologize to Saadet's family, my children, and my own family. I request my release." The court decided to continue the defendant's detention and adjourned the trial until September 24.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A dispute broke out between Saadet Çam and her husband Adem Çam in an apartment building in the 19 Mayıs neighborhood of İlkadım district in Samsun on May 6, and Adem Çam shot and killed his wife. The suspect was arrested.
