Abdurrahman Evli, a 20-year-old carpenter's apprentice living in Hatay, was imprisoned after being tried for approximately 250 years because the IBAN number of the account he opened to receive his weekly wages was used in 27 fraud incidents. His bedridden mother Hatice Evli, who had a traffic accident 5 years ago and cannot walk despite 12 surgeries, said, 'I am tired of crying at night; I now want both to regain my health and to hug my son again.'

The life of 20-year-old carpenter's apprentice Abdurrahman Evli, living in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, was turned upside down by the mobile banking account he had opened so he could receive his weekly pay.

According to allegations, the account number of Evli, who gave his phone to his master's nephew so an account number could be opened and in whose name an account was opened, was used by others. In fake listings posted on social media, citizens were asked to send money to the account number opened in Evli's name. Evli, whose IBAN number was used in various fraud schemes posted on social media, such as rental bungalows and rental vehicles, was the subject of 27 fraud complaints in various provinces such as Sakarya, Antalya, Bursa, Ankara, and Istanbul. Evli, against whom there are 17 investigation files and 10 prosecution files, continues serving his sentence in Kilis Prison due to the prison sentence he received in three of the files. Abdurrahman Evli's mother, Hatice Evli, who became bedridden after a traffic accident 5 years ago and, despite undergoing 12 surgeries, cannot walk or bend her knee, said she now wants to get back on her feet, be there for her children, and hug her son again.

BEDRIDDEN MOTHER: I WANT TO HUG MY SON AGAIN

Hatice Evli, who said that her son, whom she claims is innocent, is in prison while the guilty person is walking free outside, said, “I am the mother of Abdurrahman Evli, who is being tried for 250 years. I had a traffic accident 5 years ago. Since that day, I have been lying down and cannot get up. Despite undergoing 12 surgeries, I cannot walk; my knee has remained fixed and I cannot bend it. What my son has been through has set me back psychologically even more. My surgery process was also negatively affected by the distress and stress I have experienced. I now want to regain my old health, get back on my feet and be there for my children, and return to my work. I am tired of lying down for 5 years. I am very upset about what my son is going through. I believe my son is innocent. I say he has been in prison for four months, but we see that the person whom we think also victimized others like him is out. I want that person to be caught as well. I want my son to be released as soon as possible and come to me. My health has deteriorated further due to the sadness and stress I have experienced. I am tired of crying at night. Now I want both to regain my health and to hug my son again,” she said.

FATHER: I WANT OUR STATE TO STEP IN

Father Harun Evli, stating that his wife became bedridden due to a traffic accident and that his child is in prison, expressed that he continues his struggle despite difficult conditions, and said, “I am in a very difficult situation right now. My wife has been bedridden for 5 years and has undergone 13 surgeries. I want our state to step in to this situation. I do not want anything material or moral. Our only wish is for my son to be reunited with his mother; we believe my son is in prison for no reason, and we want him to be released as soon as possible. I am a person working for minimum wage. When I go to work, my wife stays hungry and thirsty at home. Until I come, she cannot get up and drink even a glass of water. My 7-year-old daughter, who attends the first grade of primary school, brings water to her mother and tries to help as much as she can. But how can a 7-year-old child take care of her mother? Sometimes while I am at work, my wife calls on the phone and says she is hungry or needs the toilet. I do not know what to do. The problem in my wife's leg gets worse every day. I am confused about whether to go to work, take care of my five children, or meet my wife's needs. I am having a very hard time. We see that the other person, whom we think caused my son to be in prison, is out.” he said.
