The incident occurred in the Berdan River, which passes through the area with empty lands within the boundaries of Kemalpaşa Neighborhood. According to the information received, citizens who noticed a person lying motionless in the river reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Command Center. Along with police and medical teams, other teams coordinated by AFAD, who were conducting a search for the missing 18-year-old Batu Yetiş Kerem Kaplan in the region, were also dispatched to the scene.

Teams arriving at the scene determined that the person had died, and after examination, the body was sent to the morgue for autopsy and identification. The investigation revealed that the person was 33-year-old M.M., who worked as a cleaning staff member at Tarsus Municipality. It was learned that M.M. had gotten married last Sunday, and his jacket and shoes were also found on a bridge near the scene.
What remained from M.M., who is assessed to have committed suicide, is a photo taken with his wife, whom he married 3 days ago, and the invitation he sent to his friends. The investigation into the incident continues.
