In the Tarsus district of Mersin, the congregation, wondering about Imam Halil Kısa who did not come to the mosque for the afternoon prayer, set out to look for him. Citizens who went first to his house and then to the cemetery found Kısa's lifeless body next to a broken tree. While the possibility that the imam fell while cutting a dry tree and lost his life is being considered, an investigation has been launched into the incident.
Halil Kısa, an imam hatip at a mosque in Alibeyli Neighborhood of Tarsus district in Mersin, left his home before the afternoon prayer and went to the cemetery.
WHEN HE DID NOT COME TO THE MOSQUE AT PRAYER TIME, THE CONGREGATION FIRST WENT TO HIS HOUSE, THEN TO THE CEMETERY
At the time of the afternoon prayer, the congregation saw that the imam did not come to the mosque to lead the prayer and went to his house. Citizens learned from his wife at home that the imam had gone to the cemetery. Thereupon, the citizens who went to the cemetery found Kısa lying motionless next to a tree that broke while it was being cut. The situation was reported to gendarmerie and health teams. Health teams arriving at the scene determined that Kısa had lost his life.
ONE POSSIBILITY IS BEING CONSIDERED
After examinations at the scene, the imam's lifeless body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. It was learned that it was assessed that the imam died after falling as a result of a dry tree breaking while he was cutting it. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
