The indictment accepted by the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance regarding the irregularities at the CHP congress was sent to the heavy penal court due to lack of jurisdiction.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has completed its investigation regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, where Özgür Özel was elected as the party leader. The prosecutor's office prepared an indictment against 12 suspects, including detained Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay, detained Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, and CHP Erzurum Provincial Chairman Serhat Can Eş.

3 YEARS OF PRISON SENTENCES SOUGHT

The indictment requests up to 3 years of imprisonment for the suspects on the charge of "violating the Political Parties Law," while it is claimed that the suspects "manipulated the voting."

In the indictment, where former party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is listed as a "victim" and former Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş as a "complainant," it is also requested that a political ban be imposed on the suspects during their sentence.

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the investigation was initiated after it was expressed by CHP delegates, party council members, and party members that some benefits were given and certain promises were made to the delegates supporting Özgür Özel during the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, as well as on some social media accounts and in some written and visual media outlets during and after the congress process.
