The initial results from Narin's autopsy, whose lifeless body was found 19 days later in Diyarbakır, have been announced. According to the preliminary report of the forensic medicine, it was determined that there was strangulation mark on the little girl's neck, she stayed in the water for 15 days, and she had a broken foot.

NARIN'S LIFELESS BODY FOUND 19 DAYS LATER

Sad news came from Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district in Diyarbakır, where 8-year-old Narin Güran went missing on August 21. The lifeless body of the little girl was found by gendarmerie teams in Eğertutmaz Stream near the village. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the development on his social media account, saying, "Unfortunately, the lifeless body of Narin, who went missing in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district in Diyarbakır, was found by our gendarmerie teams. May Narin rest in peace. Our condolences."

FORENSIC MEDICINE PRELIMINARY REPORT: STRANGULATION MARK ON THE NECK

As the body of the little girl was taken to the forensic medicine institution for autopsy, details started to emerge. Journalist Emrullah Erdinç stated on his social media account, "According to the forensic medicine preliminary report of Narin Güran; it was determined that there was a strangulation mark on her neck, she stayed in the water for 15 days, and she had a broken foot."

23 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY

After the discovery of Narin's lifeless body, a new development occurred. As part of the ongoing investigation, 23 people were taken into custody. Among the detainees were the mother, father, 2 brothers, 3 uncles, and the wife of Salim Güran, whose uncle was arrested on September 2. The procedures of the suspects at the gendarmerie are ongoing. It was stated that one of the two detained brothers, E.G. (18), who was previously detained and whose bite mark on his arm was determined not to belong to Narin Güran in the procedures carried out at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution, was released.

"PUT INTO A SACK AND BROUGHT TO THE STREAM"

Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu, who provided details about the incident, said, "It has been understood that she was put into a sack after being killed, brought to the stream, placed in the water, and covered with tree branches and stones in a way that would not raise suspicion and give a natural appearance."

Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu shared the details about Narin's murder, saying, "When the missing child Narin Güran was last seen, she was found dead in a sack by the stream, covered with stones, at around 08:45 in the morning."

According to the initial findings, it has been understood that after being killed, Narin Güran was put into a sack, brought to the stream, placed in the water, and covered with tree branches and stones in a way that would not raise suspicion and give a natural appearance. As part of our search efforts, the area of Eğertutmaz Stream was searched again by our expert gendarmerie teams, and the body of our missing girl was found," he said.

AREA SEARCHED 8 TIMES

As part of the search efforts for Narin Güran, the special teams from Diyarbakır and the special team from Ankara had been working in coordination. The surroundings of the neighborhood had been searched 8 times in the operations conducted by the teams. However, no trace of Narin had been found.

THE FIRST PERSON DETAINED WAS HER BROTHER

The first person to be detained in connection with the disappearance of 8-year-old Narin was her brother, but he was released shortly after. The brother, who was 18 years old, was detained due to the bite marks on his arm. Samples of jaw structure obtained from Narin's photos were sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution for comparison. However, no evidence was found regarding the ownership of the bite mark. The brother was released as a result.

NARIN'S UNCLE ARRESTED

On the 11th day of the search efforts for missing Narin, news of a new detention had come. Narin's uncle and also the muhtar (headman) of Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was taken into custody. Salim Güran was arrested by the court. The reasons for his arrest were cited as deprivation of liberty and intentional killing.

WHY WAS UNCLE SALIM GÜRAN ARRESTED?

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding the arrest of uncle Salim Güran. Minister Tunç said, "All state institutions have mobilized. Statements are being taken, detentions are being made based on those statements. There are DNA tests. Due to the match between the DNA of Narin's parents and the uncle in the vehicle, a decision of arrest was made."

"ARREST IS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE"

Justice Minister Tunç emphasized that the arrest is a precautionary measure and said, "When there is suspicion of a crime, it is up to the judge's discretion to decide on arrest."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

On August 21, Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, did not return home after the course, so her family searched for her on their own. When no results were obtained from the search, Narin's father, Arif Güran, reported that his daughter was missing on the same day around 8:00 PM. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in the houses in the neighborhood and the vehicles entering the village.

While the search operations were ongoing, Narin Güran's brother, E. G. (18), was detained due to bite marks on his arm. Since it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin or not in the examination at Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E. G. was released.

Then, Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village head) of rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was detained. Salim Güran, whose DNA samples taken from his car matched the DNA samples on Narin's clothes, was arrested for the crimes of "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty".

The teams, who had previously focused on the searched areas again, conducted a search in Eğertutmaz Stream, located 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was killed and then thrown into the stream with a sack, and her body was covered with stones.
