In Istanbul, Balıkesir, and Kocaeli, probationers carried out comprehensive cleaning, painting, and renovation works in public buildings between November 11-15, during the students' mid-term break. ISTANBULAs part of the project initiated to contribute to the rehabilitation process of convicts, cleaning, maintenance, and repair works were carried out in 12 schools in Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, and Başakşehir. In the project initiated by the Küçükçekmece Probation Office, environmental arrangements of schools such as Avcılar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Tahsin Banguoğlu Primary School were also made by the convicts. Küçükçekmece Probation Director Resul Emrah Bilgin and department heads inspected the works carried out by the convicts on-site and thanked them for their contributions. BALIKESİRIn Balıkesir, a project carried out in collaboration with the Bandırma Probation Office and the District National Education Directorate involved a total of 38 probationers with a community service obligation cleaning the schools. Renovation works were carried out in 5 schools in Gönen, 6 in Erdek, and 4 in Bandırma. Bandırma Chief Public Prosecutor Ömer Örsoğlu, Public Prosecutor Anıl Cem Turhan, Bandırma District National Education Deputy Director Ahmet Aydın, and Probation Director Özcan Deniz inspected the works at Bandırma 100th Year Primary School on-site. KOCAELİIn Kocaeli, the probationers carried out painting and renovation works at Kandıra Kocakaymak Yunus Emre Primary and Secondary School. After the renovation and painting works carried out with the contributions of the Kocaeli Open Prison, the school was made ready for education and training. Kocaeli Probation Deputy Director Mehmet Salih Çakırtaş and Kocaeli Probation Office Chief Bedirhan Çoban visited the school and inspected the works on-site. The school's deputy principal Alpay Şimşek stated, "Our school was painted by the probationers as part of the Kocaeli Probation Office's project during the mid-term break when the administrators and teachers were not present. I thank those who contributed." WORKS WILL CONTINUEThe project aims to instill work discipline in convicts, increase social responsibility awareness, and help them adapt to society. The schools that were cleaned were made ready for the educational year on November 18, Monday, when the mid-term break ended. It has been reported that the works will continue during the upcoming summer vacation and mid-term break periods.
