While millions are focused on the minimum wage figure to be determined for 2025, a striking statement came from İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu.

"IT MUST BE AT LEAST 28 THOUSAND LIRA"

Stating that the minimum wage should be at least 28 thousand TL for 2025, Dervişoğlu said, "The year-end CPI estimate for 2024 has recently been revised to 44 percent. The annual average consumer price increase in 2024 will be at least 58.5 percent. We say that at the very least, without hesitation, you should base it on the fake inflation you have manipulated, showing the courage to lie to the nation. Making a wage increase equal to the actual inflation does not compensate for the loss of welfare experienced by the worker. Considering the situation of employers, the net minimum wage in the first half of 2025 should be at least 28 thousand lira, with the condition that it will be increased again in July. Any wage below this is oppression against the Turkish nation. It is our duty to hold accountable for this oppression," he said.

CHP LEADER ÖZEL SAYS "30 THOUSAND TL"

CHP leader Özgür Özel also provided a figure for the minimum wage, stating: "They say, 'This is too much, if our expectation is 30, let's give 30, let's make it 21 thousand.' Just think, there are those who plan to give a minimum wage of 21 thousand until this time next year, 14 months from now. We looked at where a minimum wage earner spends their money. We checked how much it has increased in a year, and it corresponds to 76 percent. And when you calculate this, the inflation that a minimum wage earner is subjected to is only 17 thousand TL in just one year. This is our call to all unions. Our demand for the minimum wage is 30, and we are not below that. I invite everyone to support this call. We will continue to protest. We will make this country uncomfortable for you. We are not below 30."
