Yunus Emre Geçti, who shot and martyred police officer Şeyda Yılmaz in Ümraniye, Istanbul, was arrested and sent to prison. It was observed that Geçti pretended to be insane and made strange noises while being taken to the court before his arrest.

The teams of the Dudullu Police Station of the Ümraniye District Police Department initiated an operation to capture a suspect wanted for "motorcycle theft" last night. During the efforts to capture the suspect Yunus Emre Geçti (19), who has 26 criminal records in the Ihlamurkuyu neighborhood, the suspect took the police officer's weapon and opened fire at the surroundings and police officers during the ensuing scuffle. Police officer Şeyda Yılmaz (27), who returned fire, was seriously injured in the exchange of gunfire. In the incident, suspect Yunus Emre Geçti, his mother P.G. (43), and police officer Kürşat Hakkı Sarıtepe were also injured. The injured were taken to the hospital after their first interventions. However, police officer Şeyda Yılmaz could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred.

Shortly after the incident, Yunus Emre Geçti, who was captured by the police teams, was subjected to an investigation for "intentional murder" and "intentional injury." After completing the procedures at the Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Branch, the suspect was brought to the Anadolu Courthouse by female police officers, placed in a black trash bag. After his statement at the prosecutor's office, the suspect was referred to the Duty 1st Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest. The suspect was arrested and sent to prison for "intentionally killing a public official due to their duty."
