In the İznik district of Bursa, Mehmet Karabıyık (18), whose body was found stabbed and partially burned in the forest, had a friend, Ö.Ö. (20), who was taken into custody and confessed to the crime. It was reported that Ö.Ö., who is said to have psychological issues, stated in his testimony, "I stabbed and burned him because I saw spiritual things."

Mehmet Karabıyık, who lives in the rural Tacir neighborhood of İznik district in Bursa, left his home yesterday morning, telling his relatives, "I am going to my girlfriend in Boyalıca neighborhood." When Karabıyık did not return home in the evening and could not be reached by phone, his family reported the situation to the gendarmerie teams. After the family's missing person report, the gendarmerie teams began working to find Mehmet Karabıyık. The teams found the lifeless body of Mehmet Karabıyık, partially burned, in the forest of the rural Aydınlar neighborhood. The investigation revealed that Karabıyık was stabbed in various parts of his body and then burned to death. Karabıyık's body was sent to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.

The gendarmerie teams, who launched an investigation into the incident, examined Karabıyık's mobile phone calls and consulted the statements of eyewitnesses. The teams detained Ö.Ö., who was a friend of Karabıyık and was claimed to have psychological problems. In his statement at the gendarmerie, the suspect confessed to his crime and handed over the knife he used in the murder, stating, "I saw spiritual things. That's why I stabbed Mehmet in various places and then burned him."
