In the investigation into the death of Dorukhan Büyükışık, the son of retired Major General Ethem Büyükışık, the final fugitive suspect, who was wanted as a fugitive, has been caught at the Kapıkule Border Gate.
The son of retired Major General Ethem Büyükışık, Dorukhan Büyükışık, was found dead at a construction site near his home in İzmir's Narlıdere district on May 13, 2018.
INITIALLY RECORDED AS 'SUICIDE', THE INVESTIGATION WAS LATER EXPANDED
While the incident was initially recorded as 'suicide', the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reopened the case, and a lawsuit was filed at İzmir 21st Criminal Court of First Instance against commissioners Atakan Kaçar (44), Deniz Asıcı (36), police officers Duygu Öztürk (35), Fikret Sarıaslan, Halil Arslandağ (55), Musa Erikçi (55), assistant commissioner Hüseyin Vurucu (49), and Narlıdere Police Station Chief İsmail Köksal (59), seeking up to 1 year in prison for 'Misuse of office'.
In the continuation of the investigation, an indictment was prepared against Hüseyin Kaya (69), Hulusu Aras (77), Tayfun Çakmakçı (41), who worked as guards at the construction site, worker Bilal Çelik (47), and guard Ali Gülbaşı (77) from a nearby area, seeking life imprisonment for 'Intentional homicide'. The indictment was accepted by İzmir 21st Heavy Criminal Court. While both cases were ongoing, the files were merged. 13 defendants began trial without detention at İzmir 21st Heavy Criminal Court.
25 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
As the trial continued, the investigation was expanded, and a detention order was issued for 26 suspects, including the 13 defendants already charged. Teams from the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command TEM Branch Office, assigned by the Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, launched simultaneous operations across 9 provinces centered on İzmir on May 21. A total of 25 suspects, including construction company owners, police officers, and workers, for whom detention orders were issued, were taken into custody.
After the interrogation procedures at the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command TEM Branch Office, a total of 25 suspects, including the 13 defendants previously tried without detention, partners of Tanyer Construction Company Mehmet Münir Tanyer and his son Mehmet Taylan Tanyer, former Narlıdere Police Chief İsmail Yalçın, and Crime Scene Investigation Bureau Chief Atakan Kaçar, were arrested and sent to court.
LAST SUSPECT CAUGHT AT THE BORDER
Gendarmerie teams also captured the final suspect, İbrahim Kazmacı, who was subject to a detention order. Kazmacı was caught and detained today at the Edirne Kapıkule Border Gate. Thus, all suspects for whom detention orders were issued in the incident have been apprehended.
