The lifeless body of fisherman Ali Şahin, who went missing after setting out to sea for fishing in the Çarşıbaşı district of Trabzon, was found off the coast of Akçaabat during search efforts initiated after he could not be contacted.
The lifeless body of fisherman Ali Şahin (58), who went missing after setting out to sea from Trabzon's Çarşıbaşı district on his boat for fishing, has been found. His family, unable to reach Ali Şahin, who sailed from the Yoroz area of Fenerköy neighborhood in Çarşıbaşı district in the morning hours to fish, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the notification, Coast Guard Command and maritime police teams were dispatched to the area, where Şahin's boat was found empty.
LOSS OF BALANCE AND FALL FROM BOAT IS ASSESSED
In the searches conducted by the teams, Şahin's lifeless body was found off the coast of Mersin neighborhood in Akçaabat district, where it had drifted. The body, retrieved from the water and brought to shore, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute's morgue for autopsy. In the preliminary examinations by the teams, it is assessed that Şahin may have lost his balance and fallen from the boat into the sea, while a comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
