The limit for the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) exemption for automobiles has finally been clarified. With the new regulation, citizens who meet certain conditions will be able to own a vehicle without paying SCT within the specified limit. This regulation is seen as a significant change in the automotive sector.

The limit for vehicles for the disabled (exempt from Special Consumption Tax - ÖTV) for the new year has been determined. With the announcement of the inflation data for October by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the revaluation rate that will determine many prices in 2025 has also been revealed. The Domestic Producer Price Index (Yurt İçi ÜFE), which forms the basis for the revaluation rate, showed an increase of 43.93% based on 12-month averages at the end of October. The vehicle limit for the disabled, property tax, environmental cleaning tax, motor vehicle tax (MTV), various fees, vehicle inspection fees, income tax brackets, and administrative fines will be increased by this rate.

With the determination of the 2025 revaluation rate, the new upper limit for ÖTV-exempt vehicles that disabled citizens can purchase has been established. Accordingly, the ÖTV exemption upper limit for vehicle purchases by the disabled will increase as of January 2025.

2025 ÖTV EXEMPTION UPPER LIMIT IS 2 MILLION 247 THOUSAND 114 TL

With the determination of the 2025 revaluation rate, the upper limit applied for vehicle purchases for disabled citizens has also been clarified for 2025.

Accordingly, the ÖTV exemption upper limit, which was 1 million 561 thousand 255 TL in 2024, will increase to 2 million 247 thousand 114 TL with a 43.93% increase starting from January 1, 2025.

Citizens with a disability of 90% or more can benefit from the ÖTV exemption for vehicles. There is no age limit for individuals with 90% or more disability, and designated individuals can also use the vehicle.

If the disabled person is under 18 years old or unable to drive, family members are granted the right to use the vehicle. Additionally, these individuals can also carry out the purchase transactions of the vehicle.

One of the spouses or children of a martyr can benefit from the ÖTV exemption for vehicle purchase once, and if there is no spouse or child, one of the parents can benefit.

WHICH VEHICLES CAN BE PURCHASED?

For the purchase of ÖTV-exempt vehicles, passenger cars with a motor cylinder volume of 1600cc and below, light commercial vehicles with a motor cylinder volume of 2800cc and below, and all motorcycles can be preferred.
