It has been determined that the fire that broke out in an apartment in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş was caused by arson, not an electrical fault. An investigation has been initiated against the suspect identified from the footage captured by security cameras, who is believed to have started the fire.
The fire, which is thought to have originated from an electrical contact in an apartment in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş, was determined to be the result of arson after reviewing security camera footage.
THE FIRE WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE ORIGINATED FROM AN ELECTRICAL CONTACT
The fire broke out last month in an apartment belonging to Hasan Dernek in the TOKİ housing complex in the Karaelbistan neighborhood of the district. Upon notification, fire crews were dispatched to the residences. After the teams' efforts, the fire was extinguished. While there were no fatalities or injuries, damage occurred in the house, and the complete burning of the fuse boxes at the entrance of the apartment suggested that the fire originated from an electrical contact.
ARSON MOMENTS CAPTURED ON SECURITY CAMERA
In the investigation, the building's security cameras were also examined. The analysis of the footage revealed that the fire was the result of arson. In the footage, a person wearing a hat and a mask approaches the front of the apartment, first pouring a flammable substance in front of the door, and then igniting the poured substance before fleeing the scene.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Elbistan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, efforts have been initiated to identify and apprehend the person who set the apartment on fire.
