İYİ Parti Balıkesir Member of Parliament Turhan Çömez filmed a video with children who allegedly escaped from a dormitory in Ankara. The confessions of two children in the video, including rape, stabbing, and drug use, caused a sensation. The Ministry of Family and Social Services made a statement regarding the issue. İYİ Party member Çömez shared a long video on his social media account. The confessions of two children with their backs to the camera in the video were chilling. "THERE ARE CHILDREN USING DRUGS"Two children who claimed to have escaped from a dormitory in Ankara's Sincan district and came to Bandırma district of Balıkesir recounted the bad incidents they experienced in the dormitory. The children claimed that they were threatened and insulted by the dormitory staff and said, "Two children, aged 16 and 17, were using drugs. There are also smokers." "I WAS STABBED AND RAPED IN THE DORMITORY"One of the children claimed to have been stabbed in the dormitory and said, "I am so scared that I wet myself at night. One of the reasons for fear is being stabbed in the dormitory. The biggest child in the dormitory stabbed me." The child's words about rape were chilling. The child said, "I was raped by another child in the dormitory. The child was expelled from the dormitory. I did not receive any psychological support after the incident. After what happened, my friend and I escaped from the dormitory." "HOPEFULLY WE CAN ADDRESS ALL THESE SCANDALS"Çömez, who shared the confessions of the children, reacted to the allegations by tagging Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş in the post. Çömez said, "We have warned many times, submitted parliamentary questions, but you did not bother to respond. Look, what children who escaped from the nest in Sincan are saying; Insult, assault, stabbing, drugs, rape... We will bring the issue to the agenda of the İYİ Party in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Hopefully, AK Party and MHP colleagues will approve and we can address all these scandals." MINISTRY FILES A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST ÇÖMEZThe Ministry of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint against İYİ Party Balıkesir Member of Parliament Turhan Çömez, who published a post on social media featuring two children who have protection orders and left the institution without permission. The Ministry made a written statement regarding the publication made by Çömez on his social media account. The statement stated that Çömez staged and made an illegal broadcast with two children who have protection orders and left the institution without permission, and that the ongoing legal and judicial processes regarding the allegations in the broadcast were mentioned. The statement stated, "However, Turhan Çömez endangered the security of ongoing legal and judicial processes by making this broadcast with our children and caused further harm to our children. It should not be forgotten that this person, who published information about investigations conducted with confidentiality and meticulousness in this way, endangered the safety of the children." "UNTIL TODAY, WE HAVE NOT SACRIFICED THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN FOR ANYONE'S POLITICAL AMBITIONS, AND WE WILL NOT"In the statement, it was emphasized that the Ministry considers the best interests of all children in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey and the Law on the Protection of Children No. 5395, and the following was stated: "It is expected that a person who holds the title of a member of the Turkish Republic will comply with our Constitution and relevant laws, and express what can be done to empower and protect our children in a constructive manner, rather than using them as a political tool. It should not be forgotten that children are above politics. Until today, we have not sacrificed the lives and safety of our children for anyone's political ambitions, and we will not. In addition, we are filing a criminal complaint against Turhan Çömez and all those involved in taking the children to the place where this forced and fictional broadcast was made without obtaining permission from state institutions, for the crimes of depriving a person of their liberty, kidnapping and detaining a child, and violating the privacy of personal life."
