A striking piece of information has emerged regarding Can Aksoy, who was appointed as a trustee by the Ministry of Interior to the Esenyurt Municipality. It has been learned that the Ministry first appointed Aksoy, who was the Beyoğlu District Governor, to the position of Deputy Governor of Istanbul, and then appointed him as a trustee to replace Ahmet Özer, who was arrested as part of a terrorism investigation.

The Mayor of Esenyurt, Ahmet Özer, was taken into custody from his home early yesterday morning as part of a terrorism investigation and was sent to prison after being arrested by the court in the evening.

CAN AKSOY APPOINTED AS ADMINISTRATOR

Özer's arrest caused a significant public reaction, while the Ministry of Interior announced in a written statement that Can Aksoy, the Deputy Governor of Istanbul, was appointed as the administrator of Esenyurt Municipality.

It was learned that the Ministry first appointed Aksoy, who was the Beyoğlu District Governor, to the position of Deputy Governor of Istanbul and then appointed him as the administrator in place of Ahmet Özer, who was arrested as part of the terrorism investigation.

WHO IS CAN AKSOY?

Born in 1983 in Altındağ, Ankara, Can AKSOY is originally from Kırşehir. After completing his primary and secondary education in Keçiören, Ankara, he continued his higher education at the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Ankara University, graduating in 2005.

During his university years, he voluntarily interned at the Turkish and Middle Eastern Public Administration Institute (TODAİE) Local Government Research and Training Center (YAYEM) (2002) and the General Directorate of Laws and Decisions of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey (2003).

He started his career in the civil service as a Kırşehir District Governor Candidate in 2006, completing his Inspection Internship in Giresun Province, Accompaniment Internship in Polatlı, Ankara, and Provincial Internships in Kırşehir Province, and served as a deputy district governor in Korgun District, Çankırı Province (2006). In 2007, he was sent to the University of Leicester in England by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey for a year to participate in foreign language training and professional training programs. After his overseas education, he completed the 40th Public Diplomacy Course at the Turkish Middle East and Public Administration Institute.

At the end of the District Governor Candidate Training process, he completed the 93rd District Governorship Course of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey with "Outstanding Success" status.

• Between 2017-2018, he served as the District Governor of Gölbaşı, Adıyaman Province,

• Between 2018-2019, he served as the District Governor of Beypazarı, Ankara Province,

• Between 2019-2023, he served as the District Governor of Kızılcahamam, Ankara Province,

As of September 4, 2023, Can AKSOY has started his duties as the Beyoğlu District Governor. He is married and has two children, and he speaks English well.
