The 13-member inspection and scientific evaluation commission, composed of Turkey's leading neonatal intensive care specialists, established by the Ministry of Health, will reassess the operations of all neonatal intensive care units in private and public hospitals from start to finish.
The Ministry has canceled the licenses of a total of 10 private hospitals during the investigation process regarding the "neonatal gang," and has also taken action to increase inspections in private and public hospitals across Turkey, aiming to identify and completely reorganize the issues within the system. THE COMMISSION WILL CONSIST OF 13 EXPERTSIn this context, the "Neonatal Intensive Care Inspection and Evaluation Scientific Commission" was established upon the instruction of Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu in recent weeks. The commission consists of 13 leading neonatal intensive care specialists in Turkey. All members of the commission are professors, and they will monitor the operations and inspection processes of neonatal intensive care units in all private and public hospitals.A NEW GUIDELINE WILL BE PREPAREDDuring a meeting with Minister Memişoğlu yesterday, the commission members will examine the operations of the neonatal intensive care system across the country and identify the issues within the system based on the results obtained from inspection activities. In this context, a new scientific guideline regarding neonatal intensive care units will also be prepared by the commission. In this framework, new structural reforms aimed at private hospitals are also expected to be on the agenda. The aim is to make the control mechanisms in the healthcare sector more effective through the work and recommendations of the commission members. COMMISSIONS WILL ALSO BE ESTABLISHED IN "EMERGENCY" AND "ADULT INTENSIVE CARE" AREASFollowing the Neonatal Intensive Care Inspection and Evaluation Scientific Commission, the Ministry will also establish commissions in different branches, which will include specialist physicians and academics. In this context, scientific commissions for inspection and evaluation of emergency services and adult intensive care units in private and public hospitals and medical centers will be established first. Subsequently, commissions in different branches will be implemented based on needs.
