WHAT HAPPENED?Following the incident of a 5-year-old girl being sexually abused by a foreign national in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri the previous evening, the events that started in the city spread to the other side of the border. Incidents occurred in the areas of Syria that are under the control of the Turkish military through the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring Operations. In a video shared on social media, provocateurs were seen trying to enter a building used by the Turkish army, while the soldiers tried to disperse the demonstrators by firing warning shots into the air. The footage also showed attacks on Turkish trucks and vehicles with Turkish license plates, as well as disrespectful attacks on Turkish flags.
