At least 32 people were killed and over 200 injured in a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sarangani province in the southern Philippines. The quake, which struck at a depth of 55.2 kilometers, triggered landslides and destroyed numerous buildings. Following the earthquake, flights were canceled and schools were suspended. The terrifying moments were captured on security cameras, showing people struggling to stay on their feet during the tremors.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake was recorded 26 kilometers southwest of Kablalan district in the Soccsksargen region of Sarangani province in the southern Philippines.
MANY AFTERSHOCKS RECORDED, NUMEROUS STRUCTURES DAMAGED
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 55.2 kilometers. Following the quake, many aftershocks ranging from 4.6 to 6.5 magnitude were recorded. The earthquake caused damage to numerous structures, and according to local press reports, some flights in the country and all classes in Davao in the Mindanao region were canceled due to the tremors.
32 DEAD, 200 INJURED
Authorities reported that the earthquake triggered landslides in Sarangani, resulting in 17 fatalities, 13 of which were due to landslides. The death toll from the earthquake has risen to 32, with more than 200 people reported injured.

Meanwhile, the moments during the terrifying earthquake were also captured by security cameras. The footage showed people caught in the tremors struggling to stay standing and trying to hold onto a stable surface.
