According to official statements, a large number of health, police, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene where 4 people lost their lives and 35 people were injured. IZMIR GOVERNOR: THE CAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION IS THE INDUSTRIAL GAS CYLINDER IN THE RESTAURANTIzmir Governor Süleyman Elban stated that the explosion in Ayrancılar Neighborhood of Torbalı was caused by an industrial gas cylinder in a workplace, resulting in the death of 4 people, injury of 20 people, and damage to 11 buildings on the street. A CRISIS DESK WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE REGIONTorbalı Mayor Övünç Demir stated that 10 out of 20 injured people were in critical condition. Demir continued his statement by saying, "Both sides, from bottom to top, have been evacuated. The columns may have been damaged. We are all here. We are also providing the support we can to the neighborhood residents. People are lying on the ground. It's a very bad situation, we are establishing a crisis desk." STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTER OF INTERIORMinister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya also made a statement regarding the incident and stated the following: "Today, an explosion occurred in a coffeehouse located in Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood in Torbalı, Izmir, which is initially determined to be caused by an industrial gas cylinder. 2 vehicles and 9 personnel from Izmir Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), 8 ambulances, 2 UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) teams, and 36 personnel from Provincial Health Directorate were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, 4 citizens lost their lives and 35 citizens were injured in the explosion. I extend my condolences to the families of the deceased citizens and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The investigation regarding the incident is ongoing. The public will be informed about the developments."
