During the first group meeting of his party, the new party chairman Özgür Özel had a slight slip of the tongue in his speech. Just as he was about to mention the name of his former party, CHP, Özel managed to recover at the last moment, and his witty reaction caused laughter in the hall.
HE WAS ABOUT TO SAY HIS FORMER PARTY'S NAME
While continuing his speech at the podium, Özgür Özel, the leader of the New Party, began his sentence with "Cumhuriyet..." when he was about to mention his party's name. Realizing his mistake within seconds, Özel corrected his sentence to "YENİ Party" and regained his composure.
"THERE IS NO SIN ON THE FIRST DAY"
This momentary slip of the tongue was met with laughter among the party members in the hall. Unable to ignore the laughter, Özel responded humorously with the following words:
"We wish him success in his future life as Cumhuriyet... as the YENİ Party group. Laugh... These things happen. There is no sin on the first day."
