The forest fires that started in the Menderes, Selçuk, and Çeşme districts of Izmir turned dozens of hectares of land into ashes. The fires were brought under control after hours of intense intervention from the air and ground. While the fire in Menderes originated from a hobby garden, the fire in Çeşme was caused by a cigarette butt.

It was reported that there is no suspicion of terrorism related to the incident and the person who caused the fire has been taken into custody. It was also stated that the procedures for the individuals involved in the Menderes fire, which also originated from a hobby garden, are still ongoing. Additionally, approximately 150 hectares of land in Menderes and 350 hectares in Selçuk were damaged by the fire.
