Ayhan Ağgedik, who went missing in Antalya in 2006, was found to have been murdered in an investigation that was reopened last year. It was determined that the murder was carried out by hiring a hitman for 40,000 TL by his father-in-law and brother-in-law after Ağgedik wanted to separate from his wife, who was seeing another man. Two of the detained defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment, while one received a 20-year prison sentence.
In 2006, the family of 36-year-old Ayhan Ağgedik, who lived in the Side neighborhood of Manavgat district in Antalya, filed a missing person report after they could not reach him. As a result of the ongoing investigations, the case of Ağgedik, who could not be found, was closed. In November 2023, upon receiving a tip to the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office that Ayhan Ağgedik had been murdered, the case was reopened for review.
DNA MATCHED
Teams evaluating the information provided by Ağgedik's family during the time he went missing determined that the evidence collected from the body found under a tree in an empty lot in Aksaz neighborhood on August 18, 2013, matched. After the clothing found with the half-buried bone fragments matched the information given about Ayhan Ağgedik, DNA samples were taken from his relatives. The examination confirmed that the body belonged to Ayhan Ağgedik.
4 ARRESTS
The police identified that those involved in the murder of Ayhan Ağgedik were Abdurrahman Aykut, who passed away in 2022, along with Bilal Okudan, Mustafa Ağnar, İbrahim Kıskaç, M.K., and Yılmaz Aykut. Suspects Mustafa Ağnar was arrested in Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman, Yılmaz Aykut in Muratpaşa district of Antalya, and Bilal Okudan, M.K., and İbrahim Kıskaç in Manavgat. After their processing at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. Yılmaz Aykut, Mustafa Ağnar, İbrahim Kıskaç, and Bilal Okudan were arrested for the crime of 'premeditated murder with a motive of honor.' M.K. was released under judicial control.
'HONOR ISSUE' EMERGED
The indictment prepared by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the murder was accepted by the Manavgat 2nd High Criminal Court. The indictment stated that Ayhan Ağgedik wanted to separate from his ex-wife Aynur Aykut because he was seeing another man, and that the woman's father Abdurrahman Aykut and brother Yılmaz Aykut viewed this situation as an honor issue and decided to have Ayhan Ağgedik killed.
KILLED FOR 40 THOUSAND LIRA
It was reported that they contacted local Mustafa Ağnar to have Ayhan Ağgedik killed, and that Mustafa Ağnar started staying in a warehouse belonging to İbrahim Kıskaç in Manavgat. While trying to find someone to kill Ayhan Ağgedik, he met Bilal Okudan, who said he needed money at that time. After Mustafa Ağnar explained the purpose of his visit to Manavgat, they agreed on 40 thousand lira for the murder of Ayhan Ağgedik, after which Okudan killed Ağgedik.
3 DEFENDANTS RECEIVED SENTENCES
During the sentencing hearing of the case held at the Manavgat 2nd High Criminal Court, detained defendants İbrahim Kıskaç, Mustafa Ağnar, Yılmaz Aykut, and Bilal Okudan, along with the children of the murdered Ayhan Ağgedik, Faruk and Merve Ağgedik, and other relatives and attorneys were present. The defendants requested their release and acquittal. The court panel announced the decision; Bilal Okudan and Yılmaz Aykut were sentenced to life imprisonment, while Mustafa Ağnar received a sentence of 20 years and 10 months in prison. The court determined that İbrahim Kıskaç's crime was 'harboring a criminal' and ruled that there was no need for punishment due to the statute of limitations of 12 years for this crime. İbrahim Kıskaç was released.
"WE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE OUR FATHER WAS FOR 18 YEARS"
After the hearing, Faruk Ağgedik, the son of the murdered Ayhan Ağgedik, stated that they wanted all the defendants to be punished, saying, "We didn't know where our father was for 18 years. We still can't find his grave to pray. We will appeal for the defendants' sentences to be increased."
"WE WILL APPEAL"
Merve Ağgedik stated that the defendants should be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. Merve and Faruk Ağgedik's attorney, Ayşe Paytar, said, "Ayhan Ağgedik was murdered and disappeared 18 years ago. Our expectation was for the defendants to receive aggravated life sentences. We will appeal the decision both in the regional court and in the Supreme Court."
GRAVE UNKNOWN
On the other hand, the body found buried in an empty lot in 2013 and buried by the municipality was requested to be shown to Ayhan Ağgedik's children, who applied to the municipality, but they received the response that "no results have been reached regarding the burial process." Following the complaint of the children, the chief public prosecutor's office opened an investigation to find the missing burial site of Ağgedik.
