The branch manager of a public bank in Ankara, İhsan Yazıcıoğlu, was found dead by the Eymir Lake at METU, shot in the head with a single bullet. While both suicide and murder possibilities are being considered regarding Yazıcıoğlu's death, the background of the incident has become a major topic of curiosity.
CLAIM OF "HAVING DISAGREEMENTS"
According to information obtained from Yazıcıoğlu's close circle, the manager made a phone call before going to the lake and left his home after that call. His colleagues argue that Yazıcıoğlu was not someone who would commit suicide, stating that the possibility of murder is stronger. According to discussions in banking circles, Yazıcıoğlu had been experiencing serious disagreements with the credit customers of the bank he worked for recently. One banker said, "Recently, some companies have been offering bribes or commissions to bank managers to obtain loans. When loans are not granted despite these offers, situations such as threats or pressure can occur."
CREDITS HAVE FALLEN TO THE BLACK MARKET
It is claimed that companies, especially those trying to obtain cheap loans from public banks, sometimes seek solutions through illegal means. Some bankers state that the commission offers made by companies to public banks have reached up to 12%, otherwise, loans obtained from private banks are provided at costs exceeding 100%. Another banker pointed out the crisis within the sector by saying, "Due to credit restrictions, credit has practically fallen to the black market. Companies that cannot find resources through normal channels either resort to illegal means or succumb to high interest rates."
FORENSIC REPORT AWAITED
The cause of İhsan Yazıcıoğlu's death is not yet clear. While the investigation continues, a forensic report is awaited to clarify the incident. Yazıcıoğlu's funeral was held in the Tamzara neighborhood of Şebinkarahisar district in his hometown Giresun.
