In China's Heilongjiang Province, a short-tailed female Amur tiger that had not previously been recorded was captured by infrared cameras placed in the forest. It was determined that the tiger's habitat overlaps with the territory of a male tiger named Wandashan-1, which had previously been rescued and released into the wild. Scientists think that the two tigers could mate and have cubs, and that this development could contribute to the conservation of the endangered species.

During wildlife monitoring efforts conducted in northeastern China, a remarkable discovery was made. Infrared cameras placed in forested areas in Heilongjiang Province captured a female Amur tiger whose presence had not previously been recorded.

The images of the tiger, notable for its short tail, provided new data for monitoring the tiger population in the region.

ITS HABITAT OVERLAPS WITH WANDASHAN-1

In the researchers' examinations, it was determined that the area roamed by the female tiger overlaps with the habitat of a male Amur tiger named Wandashan-1.

Wandashan-1 had previously been rescued and then released back into its natural habitat. Experts assess that the presence of the two tigers in the same area could increase the likelihood of mating in the future.

NEW CUBS MAY BE BORN

Scientists think that the female tiger and Wandashan-1 could mate and have cubs. However, there is not yet any evidence that the two tigers have mated or that the female is pregnant.

The reproduction of endangered Amur tigers in their natural habitat is of great importance for the conservation of the species. The new images are expected to contribute to monitoring the movements of tigers in the region and possible breeding activities.
