The 9th ordinary grand congress of the Saadet Party started today at 10:00 AM at the Ankara Sports Hall. Three candidates participated in the race for the chairmanship. Before the congress, the party's high advisory board designated Kayseri Deputy Mahmut Arıkan as the candidate for chairman.

After the decision of the High Advisory Board, Istanbul Deputy Birol Aydın and former Chairman Mustafa Kamalak also announced their candidacies. Birol Aydın received 221 signatures while Mahmut Arıkan received the support of 741 delegates. After the speeches, the voting took place. Mahmut Arıkan was elected chairman with 823 votes.

On the other hand, Karamollaoğlu began his speech at the congress by celebrating November 24 Teachers' Day, honoring the teachers who guide children with great dedication to build the future. Expressing that they held a historic congress in a historic period, Karamollaoğlu stated that they took a step towards a new beginning on the path to a livable Turkey, a great Turkey again, and a just world.

They took our horse, but thankfully they could not change our path. With the spirit and excitement we had when we founded the National Order Party, we are walking towards our goal today with the same determination, the same resolve, and the same enthusiasm. The Saadet Party is the party of those who defend the truth under all circumstances, not those who change direction according to the conjuncture."

Karamollaoğlu stated that he was addressing the party members for the last time in his capacity as chairman, but he would continue to walk shoulder to shoulder with his comrades as a soldier of the party. He noted that he had been carrying the concern of not being able to fulfill his duties properly due to his age and increasingly chronic health issues for some time, and he made the following evaluations: "While my soul and heart desire a working tempo that will shake Anatolia like a cotton ball, unfortunately, my body does not allow it. I shared this with you and the public with all my sincerity months ago. Based on this, we initiated a consultation process in accordance with principles and preferences."
