As of January 1, 2025, new restrictions on gold buying and selling transactions have been introduced with a new directive sent to jewelers by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
BUYING AND SELLING GOLD WITHOUT IDENTIFICATION WILL BE PROHIBITED
In order to prevent the laundering of money obtained through crime and to combat fraud cases, jewelers will now be required to request identification for transactions of 185,000 TL and above.
Thus, if gold is bought or sold above the specified amount, the transaction will be recorded.
IT WILL ALSO APPLY TO RELATED TRANSACTIONS
Moreover, the restriction will not only apply to a single transaction. If the total amount of all buying and selling transactions made by the same person during the day exceeds 185,000 TL, jewelers will be obliged to record the transaction along with the customer's identification.
