The new leader of Syria, Shara, met with the leader of the SDF, Mazlum Abdi.

The representative of the political wing of the SDF, supported by the United States (US), Bessam Ishak, stated in an interview with the London-based Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat that a series of meetings took place between the SDF and HTS, and these meetings were positive.

AHMED AL-SHARA MET WITH MAZLUM ABDI

Ishak also mentioned that SDF leader Mazlum Abdi held a meeting with Ahmed al-Shara, the de facto president of the new Syrian government, in Damascus on Monday, and expressed that "only military issues were discussed and coordination mechanisms and common issues were addressed."

SDF DID NOT ATTEND

Last week, Shara met in Damascus with the leaders of armed groups fighting against the Assad regime under the leadership of HTS, and the SDF did not attend this meeting. Regarding the SDF's absence from the meeting, Ishak stated, "The SDF did not attend the meeting due to its own military situation. However, the fact that the last meeting he had with Shara was official and announced is a positive indication that the issues between the two sides are being resolved through dialogue."

THE GREEN SYRIAN FLAG WILL BE HOISTED IN ALL AREAS UNDER SDF CONTROL

Noting that the meeting in Damascus took place in a friendly manner, Ishak expressed that "the green Syrian flag will be hoisted in all areas under SDF control." Bessam Ishak stated that "the coordination and cooperation mechanism has been at the highest level from the very beginning."

DIRECT AND CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH HTS

Asharq Al-Awsat reported that following the entry of armed groups into Aleppo in December, the SDF has been in direct and continuous contact with HTS to ensure the safety of Kurds in Tel Rifaat and the surrounding areas, as well as in the Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods.

Composed of Kurdish and Arab forces supported by the US and international coalition forces, the SDF controls the city of Tabqa, the center of Raqqa province in the north, the towns of Al-Kafsa and Miska west of the Euphrates River, all of Hasakah province, and the northeastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor province.
