The number of deputies in 7 provinces has changed! Istanbul is among them.

According to the distribution table of the number of members of parliament in the provinces within the population data of the Supreme Election Board; Bursa, Eskişehir, Tunceli, and Bayburt each increased their number of members of parliament by one, while Hatay and Kütahya each decreased their number of members of parliament by one, and Istanbul decreased its number of members of parliament by 2.

The decision of the Supreme Election Board (YSK), published in the Official Gazette, reminded that the number of members of parliament to be elected by each electoral district and the announcement of the results of the general population census within 6 months at the latest after the announcement of the results, as stipulated in Article 5 of the Law on the Election of Members of Parliament No. 2839.

NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT CHANGED FOR SOME PROVINCES

The decision stated that the distribution of 600 members of parliament according to provinces and electoral districts was included in the context of the latest population information announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute on December 31, 2023. Accordingly, Ankara will have 36, Istanbul 96, and Izmir 28 members of parliament. According to the table, the number of members of parliament increased by one for Bursa, Eskişehir, Tunceli, and Bayburt, while the number of members of parliament decreased by one for Hatay and Kütahya, and by two for Istanbul. The number of members of parliament for Bursa increased from 20 to 21, for Eskişehir from 6 to 7, and for Tunceli and Bayburt from 1 to 2. The number of members of parliament for Hatay decreased from 11 to 10, for Kütahya from 5 to 4, and for Istanbul from 98 to 96.
