The number of detainees in the hidden camera scandal at the beauty center has risen to 3.

A suspect has been detained in connection with allegations that customer images at a beauty center in Bakırköy, Istanbul, were secretly recorded and shown for a fee via social media platforms. The suspect, identified as the user of the account through which the images were considered to have been published for a fee, was arrested by the judge to whom he was referred. Thus, the number of those arrested within the scope of the investigation has risen to 3.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in the examination carried out by the Istanbul Police Department teams, one more suspect linked to the publication of the images on digital platforms was identified.

THE OWNER OF THE ACCOUNT WHERE THE IMAGES WERE PUBLISHED WAS ALSO ARRESTED

The teams took into custody the suspect named Abdullah Çatalbaş, identified as the user of the account through which the images were deemed to have been published for a fee, at his residence in Küçükçekmece.

Suspect Detained at Residence

Digital materials seized during the search at the address were confiscated.

After his procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the judgeship and sent to prison.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation after complainants A.K.Ş, M.Y, B.M.A., and F.C.K. stated that their images were recorded with a hidden camera during procedures they had performed at a beauty center in Bakırköy, and that these images were published and distributed for a fee on social media platforms.

Within the scope of the investigation, during the search conducted by the Bakırköy District Police Department teams at the workplace, 7 devices (1 active and 6 dismantled) containing hidden camera mechanisms and many digital materials were seized, and it was determined that 14 thousand videos were published on a platform.

The business owner F.Ö., who was taken into custody, and E.S.C., who was alleged to have installed the camera system, were arrested on charges of "violating the privacy of private life," "unlawfully obtaining personal data," and "obscenity."
