The nylon invoice scandal has emerged! The wife of the Minister of Family and the son of the MHP deputy have resigned.

Following the revelation of the fake invoice scandal at the Yunus Emre Foundation, it has come to light that two prominent figures of the foundation, the wife of Family Minister Mahinur Göktaş and the son of MHP member Semih Yalçın, have resigned. It is claimed that the resignations of both individuals were requested by the foundation.

It has been revealed that fake invoices were issued by signboard companies at the Yunus Emre Foundation, a public foundation, and striking information about many signboard companies that issued invoices to the Yunus Emre Foundation was found during the investigation conducted by tax inspectors.

According to a report by Birgün Newspaper, following the emergence of the fake invoice scandal, a wave of resignations occurred at the Yunus Emre Foundation. It was revealed that Vice Presidents Rahmi Göktaş and Abdullah Kutalmış Yalçın resigned from their positions last week. It was claimed that both individuals were asked to resign.

THE WIFE OF THE MINISTER OF FAMILY AND THE SON OF SEMİH YALÇIN

Resigned Rahmi Göktaş is married to the Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş. The other resigned Vice President, Abdullah Kutalmış Yalçın, is the son of Semih Yalçın, who has long served as the Deputy Chairman of the MHP and as a Member of Parliament for Istanbul.

INSPECTORS HAVE STARTED AN INVESTIGATION

Tax inspectors affiliated with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance began an investigation into the Yunus Emre Foundation last summer. The inspectors determined that there was a relationship between the Yunus Emre Foundation and signboard companies that issued fake invoices and had no commercial activity. On July 26, 2024, a tax inspector sent a letter to the Yunus Emre Foundation, requesting documents and explanations regarding the invoices.

A LARGE NUMBER OF INVOICES WERE ISSUED

The findings of the tax inspectors regarding the invoices for which they requested explanations from the foundation are as follows:

• INVOICES ARE FAKE: It was determined that Rematek Construction Company had no real commercial activity in 2022 and 2023, and all invoices issued by it were of a fake document nature.

• NO GOODS OR SERVICES: It was determined that all invoices issued by the company named Çelikkaya Organization Construction since its establishment were fake invoices issued without any delivery of goods and/or provision of services, based on commission.

• NO COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY: It was determined that the taxpayer Ali Fide had no commercial activity between January 5, 2021, and December 31, 2021, and that he was engaged in the activity of issuing fake documents, thus all invoices issued by him were of a fake document nature.

• BASED ON COMMISSION: It was determined that the Peçenekler Iron company had no real activity in the 2021 accounting period, and all documents issued since the start date of the business were fake documents issued based on commission without any real delivery of goods and provision of services.

• FAKE DOCUMENTS: It was determined that the documents issued by Evrim Cnc Makina company since September 24, 2021, were fake documents.

THE PRESIDENT IS ALSO THE MINISTER OF TOURISM

On the other hand, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Yunus Emre Foundation, which operates in 66 countries and 88 locations, is the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. Among the members of the board are Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nuh Yılmaz, Deputy Minister of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance İsmail İlhan Hatipoğlu, President of the Turkey Maarif Foundation Birol Akgün, as well as many rectors and bureaucrats.
