According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior of France, in the second round of early general elections, the New People's Front formed by left-wing parties came first, but no party or alliance was able to secure a majority in the parliament.
In the early general elections held in France yesterday, the alliance of left-wing parties emerged as the winner. According to official data published by the Ministry of Interior, the alliance called the New People's Front, consisting of Boyun Eğmeyen Fransa (LFI) led by Jean Luc Melenchon, the Green Party (EEVL), the Socialist Party (PS), and the French Communist Party (PCF), finished first in the election. The New People's Front won 182 seats at the end of the second round, thus deceiving all the polls.
THEY COULD NOT REACH THE MAJORITY
The alliance called Republic Together, which includes President Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance Party, won 168 seats, while the far-right National Union Party (RN) led by Jordan Bardella, who came first in the first round, won 143 seats. According to official results, no alliance or party was able to reach the majority of 289 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly. The voter turnout rate was 66.63%.
Marine Le Pen, the President of the National Union Party, stated that the party did not lose and that the victory was only postponed, emphasizing that the National Union Party was the first party to win the most seats in the parliament.
MACRON DISSOLVED THE PARLIAMENT
The overwhelming victory of the National Union in the European Parliament elections led French President Emmanuel Macron to dissolve the National Assembly and call for early elections. In the European Parliament elections, the National Union party received 31.5% of the votes, while Macron's party, Renaissance, came in second with 15.2% of the votes.
"WE WILL RECOGNIZE THE STATE OF PALESTINE"
Jean Luc Melenchon, the leader of the far-left alliance that won the elections in France, said, "If the People's Front has an absolute majority, we will recognize the state of Palestine. We have been protesting the massacres in Gaza for months."
