Many people reacted to the photo of the 18-year-old student with Down syndrome shared on social media, and the Ministry of National Education launched an investigation regarding the matter.

Officials from the Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, who made a statement regarding the issue, said, "We are investigating the matter comprehensively. In our preliminary research, we found that there are 3 teachers in this student's class. The student constantly engages in such behaviors for play in the classroom. The teachers are trying to address this. That photo may have been taken while the student was taping his mouth shut. Our directorate has initiated a multifaceted investigation into the matter."
